Why is everybody getting married???

Okay so over the past 6 months I have seen WAY too many people getting engaged! Normally I don't pay much attention to it because I mean usually they're not my age and I'm not really close to them. BUT there's a group of friends that are a year younger than me and who went to my high school... and four out of the six of them have gotten engaged over the past 6 months or so! Personally, that freaks me out because I can't even imagine settling down and getting married at this point in my life! Most of them have been dating their boyfriends for a pretty long time, but one of them is engaged to a guy she met in college. I don't know why this is so crazy to me, but every time I think about all of them getting married and realize that they're only a year older than me, I panic and freak out (for them and for me). Anyways, so happy for all of them because they're all super cute couples and sweet people... and more power to them!

VP Roomie

So my roommate was elected our student body's Vice President last week. Whoo! I'm so proud of her and am so glad that she has found something she is so passionate about. She's always been into politics and and has been in SGA here at app for the past 2 years. I have never been into anything political and do not care to keep up with anything having to do with it... I know that's terrible, but it's just depressing to me. Anyways, she has been so busy the last few months that I have barely gotten to spend any time with her. She is always having to leave to go to campus super early and usually doesn't get home until like 11 or 12 at night. I only saw her like 3 times all last week... and we live in the same apartment!

Where ya at warm weather?

These last few weeks we've had a few days of warm weather... And of course some cold days. I'm just beyond ready for summer and warmer weather! Mostly because that means a few months off from school, beach trips, spending time with family and friends from back home, and my 21st birthday!! I know I'll be freaking out all summer about grad school and the GRE but at least I won't be doing that AND be in class everyday. Let's just hope this next month goes by quickly and smoothly!

Workin' on my fitness

Before I came to college I never really had to worry about working out or gaining weight... And then I came to college and got lazy. I've grown up playing sports that involve a lot of running , so I was always in pretty good shape. I would go to workout classes on campus every now and then but lost my desire to run. Every semester I'll tell myself I've got to get back into a routine of running every other day and doing ab workouts every day but I always give up after a few weeks. I'm pretty sure it's the weather, but for the past month I've started back running (at a turtle pace) and have been going to ab classes at Quinn at least 2 times a week and then do ab workouts at home when I don't. I've stuck with it so far, so fingers crossed that I don't quit. It's so much easier to run when it's nice outside and when you can run somewhere like the greenway!

Lost

So yesterday my cousin was on her way home and decided that we should go hiking when she got back to Boone. Well she didn't get back until around 5:30... She wanted to go to snake mountain, which I had never even heard of but apparently it's the place with the tower/pole thing that people climb and take cool pictures on. So we put it in our GPS and it said it would take us almost 40 min to get there. So we're headed towards Todd (off of 421) and find out that this place is in a town called Meat  Camp (creepy and the perfect place to get lost)! So our gps takes us to the elk knob state park and we just figure the snake mtn is a trail or something there since we didn't see any signs or anything. By this point we had missed a couple turns and its 6:30 and the trail closes at 7:40... So we start booking it up the mtn. We get to the top around 7 and take a few pics and find a map and realize that snake mtn is actually the mtn that's across from the one we're on. We felt like idiots but it's okay because the trail we hiked was pretty cool too! We made it down just in time (right at 7:40) and just in time to avoid the rain!

Lazy Weekend w/ Bae (aka Netflix)

I was a little mad that all of my friends went home this past weekend and I was left up here to run a 5k Saturday morning, but I'm so glad I did! I have been so busy lately (even over Spring Break) that I haven't even been able to watch Netflix (bummer, right?). This weekend I didn't have any huge exams to stress about or anything really going on so I accidentally started a new Netflix series called The Fall. It popped up on my Netflix page and I thought it sounded pretty interesting and I thought the guy looked like Jamie Dornan, the Fifty Shades guy. Turns out it was him! It's set in Northern Ireland so they have pretty cool accents. Of course I started watching it to see how differently he acted compared to Fifty Shades and after watching the first episode I was hooked. There's only two seasons so far of the series and each season only has about 5 or 6 episodes so I knew I wasn't getting into some super long show that would consume my life (which always seems to happen)! This isn't a show I would normally watch because it's more on the dark side and more of a murder mystery type show, but it's so good! It's weird because you like his character and then find out he's actually murdering innocent women... yeah, it's a bit crazy. But anyways, I may or may not have watched all the episodes over the weekend... oops. Everyone should go watch it!!

WE GOT THIS

So glad that our speech disorders midterm is out of the way! Now only a 5 page physics paper, finishing my literature review, a quiz tomorrow morning, and a few other physics assignments stand between me and spring break! My brain is really looking forward to not working for a week... I'm also really excited about being at the isle of palms this weekend (even though right now they're calling for rain, but fingers crossed) and catching up on all of my missed tv shows! Let's hope the rest of the week goes by smoothly and doesn't result in a mental breakdown... Haha

Weekend craziness

So I got home Friday afternoon and went straight over to our church to help setup for the zumbathon. Thank goodness it didn't take too long to put up all the tables and chairs and decorate. After that, we all went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant! The men of the family decided they wanted to help us fundraise for the JDRF Walk too so they planned a BBQ Boston butt fundraiser. They were cooking them Friday night so we helped them package slaw and sauce after dinner. So Saturday morning we got up pretty early and headed over to the church to finish any last minute preparations for the zumbathon. We actually had a great turnout considering the cold weather and everything else going on! After the 2 hour zumbathon, we went back over to help give out the Boston butts. We were there til 5:30... It was such a long day and I was exhausted and ready for bed at like 10! BUT we were very successful! Just with the pura Vida bracelet sales and the zumbathon, we were able to raise $500! And then we also sold over 50 butts, so I'm sure that we made a great profit off of that! We woke up this morning and found out that church was cancelled because of the ice? Which was fine because that meant I got to sleep in an extra hour! Now I get to go back to Boone and study my life away! Yay.
